Urine Neutralizer using doTERRA Essential Oils

One of the questions that I often get from my clients with new puppies or older incontinent dogs, is how to get the urine smell out of carpets and rugs.

I have been on the receiving end of both the puppies and the old dogs and I have tried many many different OTC options, and you know what, I now just make my own.

I have a two-step process.  The first is to use doTERRA On Guard cleaner concentrate.  I mop up as much of the accident spot as possible, I then spray down the area with my premade OG cleaner and do a light scrub.  Honestly, I use this same mix to clean EVERYTHING in my home…counters, showers, toilets…you name it.

Step two, I use a DIY essential oil rug refresher.  I make my mix in a mason jar, as prefer to use glass since I am using my oils.  I take 1 cup of baking soda and add 10 drops of my chosen oil.  Normally I use cedarwood, lemongrass, or purify, some even choose to use lavender.  If you need an extra kick to your mix, you can also add 1/3 of a cup of borax.

I mix these all together, by putting on the lid and shaking it all up.  I let it sit for at least 4 hours before use.

When ready to use, sprinkle on the floor, let sit for at least 20 minutes, then vacuum up like normal.

This is great for carpet and rugs all throughout the house.
